It’s been on the rebound ever since the Anabaptists brought back the old monastic theology from out of the shadows (minus celibacy). Even dispensational eschatology derives from hatred of the material world.

Since the OT praises the material world even more thoroughly than the NT does, corrupted minds disregard the OT.
