Hi Michael

His theology doesn’t concern me much. If God has shown him some shocking things, it’s because he is ministering to people who have experienced some shocking things (and I know he has been doing so for years). Perhaps he shouldn’t share such details, but it’s his motormouth that’s the problem, not his theology. And I really think we needed Mark Driscoll to smack us around a bit, don’t you? Most prophets tend to do that.

How do solve a problem like Mark? How do you catch a cloud and pin it down? On one hand you love his enthusiasm for church planting, on the other hand you are concerned with his theology.

I think the “shock” factor is lost on Australians. Honestly, I have heard far “worse” from guys here. I think the American puritanical baggage makes him seem really risqué etc but I think he’s pretty tame & conservative.

That said, his appeal down here is his resistance to the “comfort zone” or anything that might mean he’s fitting into anyone’s expectations other than God’s.
