What the Seraphim Really Said

seraphim

My Hebrew teacher was reading a Kabbalistic text and noted that it was the only place where he had seen an interpretation of Isaiah 6:3 that agreed with his own translation. We usually get something like this (NASB):

“Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory.”

The Hebrew is actually like this, (from Young’s translation):

“Holy, Holy, Holy, [is] Jehovah of Hosts, The fulness of all the earth [is] His glory.”

Groundhog Day’s Hidden Power

staypuft

or The Devil’s Marshmallow
or Dominion by Stealth

NOTE: THIS POST HAS BEEN REMIXED AND INCLUDED IN GOD’S KITCHEN.

I listened to a White Horse Inn podcast recently, titled Boredom and Entertainment.

Compared with an action-packed movie, most people would probably characterise the ministry of the word and sacrament as “boring.” So in order to reach out, should churches make their services more entertaining? Joining the panel for this discussion is Richard Winter, author of Still Bored in a Culture of Entertainment…

End of the Abrahamic Rift

titusentersmostholy

There’s a great deal of confusion concerning the place of modern Jews in God’s economy. This stems from a misunderstanding of what occurred in the first century, which is difficult to interpret if we ignore previous occurrences of the same pattern. Dispensationalists cherrypick Old Testament verses and rip them out of their historical contexts to maintain that there is a separate plan for the Jews. But even many Conservatives who understand rightly that the Old Covenant is in fact over, believe that God is still joining Jew and Gentile into one body.

Titus steps over the High Priest into the Most Holy Place.

Beyond Days of Vengeance

jbjlecturesDavid Chilton’s The Days of Vengeance gets downloaded from my site over 30 times a day (add that up for three years!). It’s a great commentary, but Jordan’s lectures use the Bible instead of Josephus to interpret Revelation. Chilton was peeping through the keyhole. Jordan throws open the door. These are cutting edge and, I believe, indispensable for anyone with an interest in preterism.

Days of Vengeance is on this page (near the bottom).

Right as Rain

or Common Grace, Uncommon Grace

“…love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5:44-45

Most “Bible contradictions” display our ignorance of literary forms, history, or customs. Further study always vindicates the Bible. Sometimes, however, the “contradiction” is just a misunderstanding of the way God works; a question of timing.

The supposed contradiction I want to discuss is this: if God punishes the wicked, how can He also send rain on the just and the unjust?

Your Own Private Sheol

or Having No Controversies With God

davidbathshebasolomon

The devil hates confession. It breaks his power over us. He would rather have us confine ourselves behind the bars of  our own private Sheols than get right with God.

Why is confession so powerful? Because it is judicial. It is an application of the knowledge of good and evil.  Continue reading

The End of Shadows

nosferatu

or Daniel’s 70th Week Postponed

“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.”  Isaiah 9:2

A great deal of time has been spent on the chronology concerning Daniel’s seventy sevens. Quite frankly, chronology is not my strong point [1], but perhaps the solution for this enigmatic problem is not chronological but theological.

Bible Matrix offer

I’ve just finished the first draft of this new book. It’s basically a primer for Totus Christus, with a focus on the earlier chapters so you can really nail down the methodology. Part of me says it is too brief, but I am hoping that with its brightly-coloured cover and low wordcount, it might even appeal to Christians who would normally read books like How To Get God to Make You Rich, Why Progressive Polygamy is OK, Did My Cat Go To Heaven? and The Shack.
